For those unaware, in addition to all the public events we host and the annual scholarship we award, there are a lot of non-public uses of the Old Franklin Schoolhouse outside of event rentals. Scout meetings and ceremonies happen therer. A Southeast Asian cultural group uses the space regularly for language and dance lessons, heritage groups meet there often, as do some religious/spiritual groups. A Civil War re-enactors' dinner, or a Temple game night, or a recording space. Our members and supporters make ALL this possible by keeping up the Schoolhouse!

Despite our organization’s name (the Borough Improvement League), we receive no public support or funding from the Borough of Metuchen. We own and are solely responsible for the maintenance and improvements of the historic Schoolhouse. It is a labor of love for both the building itself and the community.
